New experiments with a range of media, exploring transparent effects… rough sketches and first ideas are shown here. The work is based on studies of derelict greenhouses on Guernsey; paintings and drawings are evolving from digital collages & sketches.
These greenhouses have long been giving way to new “hot houses” of high finance.
Modern architectural towers both contrast with, and add to, the defensive towers that still ring the island. The transparent layers are becoming visual metaphors for these on-going layers of history.
Traces of the former importance of tomatoes and flower growing to the island’s economy remain – pressed against the glass.
